V1 MVP — Hybrid Transition

Changing a sixty-year computing paradigm doesn't happen in one release. V1 is a transitionary step — Inflect OS runs hosted inside existing operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) with device runtimes for Android and iOS. This is deliberate. Prove the model before asking anyone to leave their environment.

Why hybrid first

Paradigm shifts are hard. Asking someone to abandon their existing operating system, their installed applications, their familiar workflows — that's not a transition. That's a leap. Inflect OS V1 doesn't ask you to leap. It hosts inside your existing environment, proves its value, and lets you grow beyond the old paradigm at your own pace.

The hosting layer is temporary. The architecture is not. Every line of code written for V1 runs on the same actor-centric model that will power the native OS. The hosting layer is a bridge — it lets us build and validate the paradigm without waiting for a full native stack. When the native OS ships, your selfspace moves with you.

The gateway model

V1 follows a gateway model: a main process manages the actor's personal information system, and the user opens perspectives — sub-processes or windows — to interact with different subsystems.

Main Process

Gateway to the actor's information system. Manages lifecycle of all subsystems.

Settings

Actor preferences, identity management, subscription configuration.

Browser

Window into external content, consumed through reactive subscriptions.

Cockpit

The actor's dashboard — active subscriptions, system health, status.

Model

Reactive semantic model layer. Manages live data, queries, mount points.

Knowledge

Persistent knowledge base. Documents, notes, semantic search.

Agent

AI agent runtime. First-class actors with their own information systems.

Governance

Policies, rules, roles, and skills that govern system behavior.

Ambience

Shared spaces where multiple actors collaborate in real-time.

Cryptographic identity

Every user becomes an actor with a cryptographic keypair. No more username/password.

Subscription-based data access

Subscribe to streams instead of logging into applications. Your data follows you.

Governance engine

Policies, rules, and knowledge management — the foundation for actor autonomy.

Reactive context

Live semantic models that update as source data changes.

AI agent integration

AI agents as first-class actors, collaborating with humans on equal architectural terms.

V1 does not need to be perfect. It needs to be real — a working demonstration that the paradigm delivers value in the world that exists today. Every phase after V1 will expand the model. But V1 must prove that the subscription model, the actor architecture, and the holon principles work in practice, not just in theory.
